I'll be honest, here. When I first became a dad, I was worried that my life was going to become boring.
This probably stemmed from that teenage idea that job/marriage/babies= a slow decline to a life of tedium and boredom. I never quite updated that idea, I guess. The funny thing is that when I tell other parents how I was worried that my life would settle into this boring monotony, they completely break out laughing.
One of the coolest things about my (relatively) new role as a dad is realizing that my own kid is not just nice and sweet, but he's incredibly weird and cool. I mean, really cool. If i met this guy as an adult, I'd really want to hang out with him.
Soren wins the coolness award on many fronts, but his most recent and most impressive is what Lisa and I call "The Banana Dance." It's very simple, really. You simply dance with bananas in hand while classic rock-- preferably Queen-- is playing on your cd player. Oh so simple, yet amazing.
We are starting to see more things like this at an exponential rate. It's so mind-blowing to see life blossom in your own kitchen every morning, often at 6am.
Setting up said cd player.
This is one of his new cheeky camera poses.
Still sweet with his mama.
